Wonderwide Neighborhood · Chicago

People already love what you do. The rest of the city should know why.

I’m a Chicago filmmaker with movies streaming on Prime Video. Between productions, I work with neighborhood shops that have poured everything into their reputation. My job is to put that story to work for them.

Who's holding the camera

I make movies for a living.

Feature films you can stream on Prime Video. Documentaries for nonprofits. Campaigns for companies you've heard of.

None of that matters much to you, so here's what does.

Most video people show up, film your sign and a few nice shots of the room, and hand you a commercial. It looks like every other commercial.

I make documentaries. Before I arrive I'll have read your reviews — all of them — and worked out why forty of your customers mention one person by name, or keep bringing up the same thing you do that nobody else does. Then I build the film around that.

It's the difference between a video about a shop and a film about the people in it. One gets watched once. The other gets sent to a friend.

What the day is actually like

You don't have to prepare anything.

  • 1 Don't clean up for meDon't tidy, don't dress up, don't rehearse. I want your shop on a normal Tuesday. The real thing always films better than the staged version.
  • 2 You work, I filmI stay out of the way and shoot what's already happening. At some point we'll sit down and talk for twenty minutes on camera, and about four minutes in you'll forget it's there.
  • 3 Two weeks later it's doneFilm, clips, photos — finished and already loaded onto your website. You'll get a link and a short note telling you what to post first.
  • 4 You won't have to learn anythingDomain, hosting, email at your own address, your Google listing — all handled. You'll never log into anything. If something needs changing, you text me and it's changed.

Chicago only

I take a handful of these a month.

In person, in your shop, anywhere in the city. Text me and tell me what you do — that's the whole first step.
